cut (diamond cut)

The cut is the most important feature of a stone, especially as far as diamonds are concerned.
The most important cut is undoubtedly the “Brilliant Cut with 57 facets”. As its name suggests, it was specially created in order to highlight the stone brilliance to the most.
As for all other cuts, the closer the stone is to the so-called "ideal cut", the more intense its brilliance becomes as it reflects most of the light penetrating into it.
The brilliance of a stone which is not perfectly cut tends instead to vanish for the light rays penetrating into it get out from different or wrong points.

This is why it is extremely important to carefully evaluate proportions and symmetries in each cut in order to get the highest possible stone brilliance.
